About the Author
Pamela D. Arthur is a devoted author, educator, and creative visionary whose work centers the brilliance, beauty, and boundless potential of Black children. Through her imprint Moppetland Books, she writes character-driven stories that span from whimsical picture books to powerful young adult novels all rooted in love, cultural pride, and the everyday magic of growing up Black.
A U.S. Army veteran and early childhood education expert, Pamela brings both discipline and heart to her craft. Her storytelling is shaped by years of nurturing young minds and advocating for representation in literature. Each book she writes is a celebration of identity, imagination, and the joy of seeing oneself reflected on the page.
Pamela’s characters are bold, curious, and unforgettable, just like the children she writes for. Whether it’s a preschooler discovering their voice or a teen navigating their truth, her stories offer affirmation, adventure, and a safe space to dream.
When she’s not writing, Pamela is often reading, listening to music, spending quality time with her husband and fur baby, developing educational worksheets, or exploring new ways to amplify Black voices in children’s literature. She believes that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and celebrated and she’s on a mission to make that happen, one book at a time.
